As I put the tables into the world, they become hard to let go of. My hands and eyes spend a significant amount of time with them, while each representing their own story within the environments in which they live. It may sound odd, but I visit them occasionally. Shortly after I installed the table at Columbus Park, I went for a visit only to see two youngsters playing Checkers with rocks. Their ingenuity to utilize rocks as checker pieces amazed me. Upon approaching the boys (not telling them I was the one who built the table) I asked , "Do you like the table?" The boy responded, "It's beautiful."  In shock,  I replied, "Whats so beautiful about it?" He looked at the table while running his hands across it with a smile on his face and said,

"I don't know.  It just is!"

James Medeiros and MindFight Chess Tables have received local recognition and praise for his humanitarian work throughout the city of Fall River, Massachusetts.  He has been mentioned in local news papers for his work, local television news coverage, and landed an article in Chess Life Magazine.
